In cooperation with Island Harvest Food Bank, the Nassau police unions conducted our second annual Veterans Day food drive. The day was a tremendous success as we collected nearly 5,000 pounds of food!
Donations were taken at three locations, Stop and Shop in Massapequa, King Kullen in Rockville Centre and Shop-Rite in Plainview. “The members of our department are very much like military veterans. We took this job because we want to serve” said James Carver, President of the Nassau PBA. “It’s tremendously important that we honor these brave individuals for all they’ve done in service of our country. If there are military veterans out there who are in need, then we’re all over that. There’s a lot of people with big hearts who are contributing and we couldn’t be happier.”
Want to contribute? It’s not too late! The PBA, SOA and DAI will continue to accept donations through the holidays. Just stop into any of our eight precincts, day or night … We are always open!
