The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of an Amityville man for Driving While Intoxicated/Leandra's Law that occurred on Sunday February 17, 2019 in Massapequa.
According to police, officers while on routine patrol, observed Defendant operating a Toyota on Countyline Road, Massapequa, commit multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The officers activated their emergency lights and initiated a Vehicle and Traffic Law investigation stop. During the investigation, officers suspected that the defendant had glassy bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. The defendant was arrested without incident. The defendant's 10 year old son and 7 year old daughter were both passengers in the vehicle at the time of arrest. The children were brought home and left in custody of a family member.
The defendant is charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated(child under 16-Leandra's Law), two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a child, two counts of Driving While Intoxicated, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions.
