Merrick, March 1, 2016: Arrest for Burglary

Mar 01, 2016

Three men threw a concrete brick through the front door of a Cell Phone store on Merrick Rd in Merrick. Once inside, the subjects removed several cellular devices and electronic equipment and placed them into their vehicle. Officers responding to a burglary alarm at the store observed a gray Mitsubishi travelling a high rate of speed on Sunrise Highway. The officers tried to conduct a vehicle stop. The driver intentionally crashed the vehicle and then failed to comply with a lawful order to stop as he fled and resisted arrest. Two other subjects were apprehended at the scene. Proceeds from the burglary were observed by officers scattered about the inside of the vehicle. All three subjects were placed into custody without further incident.

A subsequent investigation determined that the three subjects were responsible for another burglary on February 17th in Bellmore.

All three subjects were charged with Burglary and charges were pending regarding the Burglary on February 17th.
