EIGHTH PRECINCT
Police Officers
Mohammad Abdelaziz
Kenneth MacGregor
John Abruzzese

Sergeant
Timothy Siar

On August 29, 2018 at approximately 0420 HRS, officers Abdelaziz and Abbruzzese were dispatched a call for a robbery with a gun at the Bethpage Motel.  CB advised responding units that the victim was an Uber driver and he was at the Walgreens across the street.

The Uber driver advised that he was making a food delivery to the Motel and was approached by a black male in a dark colored Hyundai.  The subject pointed a silver handgun at the victim.  The victim was in fear for his life and thought he was getting robbed.  He then fled across the street.  Officers responded to the Bethpage Motel.  PO Abdelaziz and MacGregor responded to the front of the motel.  PO Abruzzese and SGT Siar responded to the rear.  Officers observed the subject and at gunpoint ordered the subject to show his hands.  The subject was taken into custody.  A loaded 9mm handgun and a loaded .22 caliber handgun were recovered.

The subject was charged with Menacing and several counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Because of these officer's quick response, great notification and excellent instincts they were able to take a dangerous felon and guns off the street.  We are proud to name these officers as the PBA Top Cop for August 2018.
