On July 24, 2014, Police Officers Scott Andruk and Lauren Blozis were on patrol in the Sixth Precinct and aware of a recent spike in larcenies from autos within the Sea Cliff area. At about 11:20pm, a radio assignment was broadcast for a larceny report and immediately following it an assignment for four suspicious persons was received in the same vicinity.

The officers began to canvass the area for the subjects, and at about 12:10am, Officer Andruk located one and stopped him for an investigation. Officer Blozis responded to assist Officer Andruk, and upon arriving at scene, observed a second subject hiding in the bushes.

Officer Blozis pulled the subject from the bushes and observed that he was sitting on a green backpack and pink gloves. The second subject was questioned about his actions and gave the officers permission to look in the back pack. It contained proceeds from multiple larcenies and the subjects made statements implicating themselves in many of the open cases from the area.

The subjects were taken into custody and transported to the detective squad for further investigation.
