1928: Formation

Founded on July 18, 1928, by 49 Nassau County Police Department members.

Inaugural meeting at the Alpha Fire Department hall in Roosevelt.

Received support from presidents of the New York City PBA, NY State Police Conference, and the New Jersey PBA.

Leadership Transition

Led by former NYPD Lt. Abram Skidmore.

Initial interactions included the suspension of the newly formed PBA Board and a request for them to surrender their guns and shields.

Since 1928: Advocacy and Achievements

The PBA has been a staunch advocate for its members.

Pioneered the fight for Binding Arbitration in all police contracts.

1988: Name Change

In 1988, the organization changed its name to the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association.

Presidential Leadership

Over the years, 26 different police officers have served as President of the Association.

Their dedication to representing the men and women of the police force has been vital in the PBA's remarkable achievements.
