PBA TOP COP: March, 2014

THIRD PRECINCT
Police Officers
VINCENT LOGIUDICE
MICHAEL JACOVIELLO

On March 16, 2014, third precinct plainclothes officers Michael Jacoviello and Vincent Logiudice responded to assist Garden City PD with a large disturbance with a person shot near the Roosevelt Field Mall. While en-route, they observed a Ford Explorer traveling at a high rate of speed on Ring Road in East Garden City. They also observed the vehicle to be missing its rear bumper.

The officers conducted a stop of the vehicle. As they approached, they observed the operator making furtive movements towards the back area of the vehicle. The operator refused the officers verbal commands and was eventually removed from the vehicle without incident.

Upon inspection, the officers detected a strong odor of marihuana emanating from the vehicle and subsequently observed and recovered a quantity of marihuana from the rear floor, as well as a small quantity from the operator’s pants pocket. The officers also observed and recovered two loaded firearms in the rear area of the vehicle.

The vehicle was impounded and the operator taken in to custody.

Because of the keen observations of officers Logiudice and Jacoviello, this subject was stopped and arrested on multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

While the subject was found to be connected to the original disturbance, he was not connected to the shooting.
