On September 13, 2013 three male subjects entered a luxury car dealership in Franklin Square and inquired about making the purchase of a vehicle. As they were about to exit, one of the subjects grabbed an employee and, at gunpoint, demanded his jewelry and other personal property. As one of the subjects stood watch at the front door, two subjects then approached another employee and grabbed his cell phone. They then kicked in an office door, pointed the handgun at a third victim inside, and demanded his property. The victims were ordered onto the floor and the subjects fled the scene in a waiting vehicle containing a fourth subject.

Fifth Precinct Officers responded to the scene and a notification was broadcast with a possible vehicle description given. Police Officer Victor Gladitz and Police Officer Keri-Ann Hoovert of the Fifth Precinct began to canvass the area. The Officers observed a suspicious vehicle matching the description on a side street approximately a mile away from the incident location. They were joined by Police Officer Charles Volpe at this point and the Officers attempted to conduct a stop of the suspected vehicle which refused to stop. After numerous attempts, the vehicle did pull over with the occupants fleeing out of the vehicle on foot. Two of the subjects were apprehended at scene and the other two subjects were apprehended after a foot pursuit. The weapon, which was discarded by the subjects, was subsequently recovered and all subjects were charged with multiple counts of Robbery along with Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Because of the keen observations, quick actions and dedication to their duties shown by the Officers involved these dangerous subjects were apprehended and charged with the crimes they committed and an illegal handgun was taken off the streets.
