On Friday March 5, 1993 at 8:30 p.m., Officer Farley was present at 150 Division Avenue, Massapequa, New York in response to a complaint of a violent mental aided case. While attempting to subdue the aided person Officer Farley was struck in the chest by the subject. Following the altercation, Officer Farley complained to the other officers that he had pains in his hand, arm, and shoulder and did not feel well. At 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 1993 Officer Farley collapsed. He was transported to N.C.M.C., where he was placed on a respirator. Officer Farley succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, March 7, 1993. He was 36 years old.
